Back to School Letter

Hello Jefferson Community!

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year at Jefferson Middle School.  We are looking forward to a great school year.

The first day of school is August 22nd, and this is a full day of school and breakfast and lunch will be served to all students.  Doors will open at 7:10 AM and school begins promptly at 7:20. 6th Graders should enter at Door 6 (the Main Entrance) and go to the gym upon entering school.  7th Graders should enter at Door 7 and report to their Advisory Classroom. 8th Graders should enter at Door 8 and report their Advisory Classroom. School will be dismissed at 2:15 PM.  ALL students should bring their schedules to the first day of school.

Bussing assignments will be sent by the bus company and are expected to arrive at homes a few days before school starts.  Parents dropping off and picking up students should utilize the south circle drive. The north drive is reserved for school busses only.

Students and Parents may pick up student schedules and locker assignments on August 19th.  Students may also drop off school supplies to their lockers on this evening.  Please bring in your shot and physical forms as the nurse will be present to collect them.  We will have a short program for parents and students and important parent information will be distributed.  Spirit wear and PE Uniforms will be available for purchase. 8th Graders and parents should report at 5:30 to the school gym. 7th Graders and parents should report at 6:15 to the gym.  6th Graders and parents should report at 7:00 PM to the gym. Parents with multiple Jefferson students should attend the presentation for the youngest child. Parents/Guardians must attend with their students.  If you are unable to attend this evening, students should still attend on the first day of school, picking up their schedules in the cafeteria.

School supply lists are posted on Facebook, the TJMS website (, and are posted on the Main Entrance doors.

Jefferson will be using a Dress Code instead of a uniform this school year.  Students may wear any color clothing, but it must provide appropriate coverage (shoulders to mid-thigh) and be free of references to drugs, alcohol, gangs, violence, prejudice or explicit situations.  Additional information about this may be found on our website ( and will be distributed on August 19th.
